ULTIMATE PROOF OF THE MESSIAH HAPPENED DURING HANUKKAH (HEALING MAN BORN BLIND)

Did you know that during Hanukkah Yeshua (Jesus) came to Jerusalem (at the risk of his own life) to meet with believers and to perform a miracle that was the ultimate proof that He is the Messiah? Turn to John chapter 9. BTW – John 8:12 through John 10:42 happened during Hanukkah.

On the first day of Hanukkah, Yeshua passes by a man born blind from his birth. In response to His disciples question: “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?” Yeshua tells us that the reason this man was born blind was so the power of God would be manifest (John 9:3). Just as this man was born blind, our own imperfections and frailties are for the purpose of His power being made known in our lives.

Right after Yeshua declares that this man was born blind so the works of God might be displayed in him, Yeshua declares: “We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day… While I am in the world, I am the Light of the World” (John 9:4-5 NASB). Notice how Yeshua included His disciples; therefore, this applies to you and I as well. Next, we see Yeshua spit on the ground. He put His very DNA in the earth, mixed it up, and put the mud on the man’s eyes. Then, Yeshua requires action from the one being healed: “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam (which is translated, Sent)” (John 9:7). When this guy comes back from washing in the Pool of Siloam screaming with joy, it’s the first time that this man could see.  “Never since the world began has anyone been able to open the eyes of someone born blind” (John 9:32 NLV). Significantly, Isaiah had prophesied that when the true Messiah comes He will do a miracle that no man had ever done before. He would open the eyes of a one born blind. And everyone knew it, including the Scribes and Pharisees

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the humble; he has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn” (Isaiah 61:1-2 HNV).

Under the threat of death from the religious establishment, Yeshua goes up to Jerusalem to attach a major prophetic significance to the Feast of Dedication (Hanukkah). Not only does Yeshua do the one miracle that proves that He is the Messiah, but He does it by breaking every man-made (Rabbinic) rule that could apply in this situation.

The hooping and hollering healed man that was born blind drew the attention of the Pharisees, and were they mad! They were so mad that they had wrath in their hearts. You see this man got healed on the Sabbath. This violated the religious establishment’s strict rules, so they questioned the guy. The religious leaders found out that Yeshua from Nazareth did a miracle on the Sabbath, and he did it by making mud. It was absolutely forbidden by the Pharisees for anyone to mix dirt and water to make mud on the Sabbath. It was also forbidden to put saliva on eyes on the Sabbath; then to top things off, Yeshua had this man walk more than a Sabbath’s day journey in order to receive his healing. Yeshua was basically doing a huge “In your face Pharisees!!!” What a bold statement! Not only was Yeshua saying: I am the Messiah, but He was also saying I will break every man-made rule that keeps My people blind and bound.

How sad that these religious leader did not even stop to consider that this restoration of sight miracle had just happened. They were seeing the ultimate proof of the Messiah right before their eyes, yet they were too concerned about people following their own piddlely rules and regulations. They were not willing to relinquish their earthly power to follow a heavenly earth-shattering Messiah. Are you willing to forsake all for Him? Are you willing to go to the Pool of Siloam to be healed of the blind spots that you were born with? I know that I want to be able to say to the fullest: ” One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see” (John 9:25 NKJV).
