The 2015 battle to keep Christ in Christmas was sparked over a video from a social media evangelist who was seeing red due to the lack of “Merry Christmas” of “Happy Holidays” on Starbucks’ “TO GO” cups. They are simply red this year. Even though many people think that the “War on Christmas” began early this year, it’s actually pretty typical. We just don’t hear a lot about Christmas Controversies in the middle of July.

If you were to bet that the “War on Christmas” is a fairly new phenomenon (around the turn of the millennia), you’d be out some bucks… and I don’t mean reindeer. We can trace back our modern “War on Christmas” to the height of The Reformation. It follows the path of Calvinism which began in Geneva and flowed to Scotland where Christmas was banned in 1583. The Scottish ban on Christmas was only lifted in the 1950s, which also corresponds to the Presbyterians in the American South by the way. That’s almost 400 years of outlawing Christmas!
The Scottish ban on Christmas spread to England in 1644 when the Puritans of the English Parliament called on Scottish Presbyterians to support them in the English Civil War. There was an understanding that their alliance with the Scots would be in exchange for a ban on Christmas. Therefore, from 1644 to 1660, the English Parliament (some simply and say Oliver Cromwell) banned Christmas.
These attitudes were carried to the New World by English Puritans, Quakers, Baptists, and Scottish Presbyterians. In America, reprisals were as harsh as those in Scotland. In Massachusetts, a five-shilling penalty was imposed on anyone found feasting or shirking work on Christmas Day.
An actual law was on the books in America that banned Christmas and other such holidays where there was gambling and other lawless behavior. It existed for 22 years from 1659-1681, but the disproval of Christmas festivities lasted much longer in New England. It took approximately 200 years for Massachusetts to be sweep up in Christmas cheer (1880s).

Instead of getting angry or outraged over a red “TO GO” Cup, Christians need to see through the red lens of the Blood of the Lamb. Actually, YHVH has given us a precious clue into His heart in the RED “TO GO” cup that has sparked this year’s Christmas Controversy.
Do you really know the actual root meaning to the word “Christmas”? The word “Christ” obviously comes from the Greek word “Christos” and the Hebrew word “Messiah which is Yeshua. However, even though most people translate “mass” as a worship gathering of people, that’s not its root translation. The word ‘missa,” which evolved into the Middle English word “mass,” came from the Greek word “mitere,” which means to send or dismiss. In the early days, the Eucharistic Service was divided into two parts. Those receiving instruction – catechumens – were only allowed to be there for the first part. Only the faithful who had been baptized could remain for the second part. Thus there were two dismissals that were pronounced in Latin: eatta me est (i.e., “Ite misse est”). Ite misse est literally means: Go, you are dismissed… So “missa” came to refer to the dismissal. It’s basically like calling a basketball game – The Buzzer. Later, there was no midway dismissal, and the entire service was called the “missa” or simply “masse” in Middle English.
If we understand this historical fact, we also understand that when people pronounce the word “Christmas,” it primitive root meaning is: Go, Christ, you are dismissed – or – Christ’s dismissal – or – the Dismissal of Christ. Ever since I’ve known this history I cannot bring myself to say that word unless it’s merely an explanation of the holiday. I know that whether people acknowledge that the word “Christmas” means the “dismissal of Christ,” or not, this historical fact remains. Not only does the very tap root of “Merry Christmas” proclaim “Happy Dismissal of Christ,” so does it coincide with the fourth and most detestable abomination in God’s eyes that move Him far from His sanctuary. With God, there are no coincidences. This year, Christians are seeing red in the “TO GO” message (container) of Christmas.
Which side of the bi-polar equation of Christmas are you on? One side is said to be an outrage machine over trivial matters. The other side sees YHVH’s anger over the carnal institutional church stealing His most valued possession – His Pure and Spotless Bride.
We all need to ask ourselves: What if God’s RED TO GO message is Christ is taking Himself out of Christmas? Do you think anyone could take Christ out of Christmas if He didn’t allow it? Know that the mixture of Christmas grieves Jesus’ (Yeshua’s) heart.
Yeshua has told me for several years that HE is taking Himself out of Christmas. Know that this “RED TO GO” controversy is a literal signal to all of us that Christ is leaving the building. He is leaving the Christian Institution of Christmas, which comes out of Babylon. That means that His people celebrating Christmas will unfortunately encounter much darkness as well as the plagues of Babylon this year.
Won’t you listen to Yeshua’s precious heart: “The mixture of Christmas grieves My heart. Come out of Babylon and lay down Christmas for I will have a pure and spotless Bride!!! Christmas WILL be the Golden Calf of America.”
