LAND OF MERCHANTS CHALDEA

Scripture identifies a specific place in Babylon – Chaldea – as the “land of merchants” (Ezekiel 16:29).

Too many times, we see the Word of God as something of the past. One of Yeshua’s Names is the “Word of God” (Rev 19:13). The Word of God proclaims in Revelation 1:8 – “I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, says the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” There is a past “which was,” a present “which is,” and a future“ which is to come” reality to all Scripture. Let’s look at a present “which is” reality to the Land of Merchants:

“ ‘You also multiplied your harlotry with the Land of Merchants Chaldea, yet even this you were not satisfied. How languishing is your heart,’ declares the Lord GOD, ‘while you do these things, the actions of a bold-faced harlot. When you build your shrine at the beginning of every street and made your high place in every square, in disdaining money, you were not like a harlot’ ” (Ezekiel 16:29-31 NASB).

Please notice how chapter 16 documents the Word of the Lord (i.e. Yeshua) comes to Ezekiel to speak about His precious Jerusalem and her abominations. When I look at the Land of Merchants based out of Chaldea – a place where God’s people multiply their harlotry against the Lord, but are still not satisfied – I see one of the Babylonian roots of Christmas.

Is it just me, or does this sound a lot like Christmas? We are told in Ezekiel 16:31 that there’s a general disdain for frugally spending money when it comes to the Land of Merchants’ worship. Add to this that the Land of Merchants – Chaldea – can be recognized by its shrines built at the beginning of every street and in the high place in every town square. Throughout the world, there is not another time (other than Christmas) when streets and town squares are so lavishly decorated. Simply pay attention to when your city’s streets and town square are decorated with shrines. FYI – The Christmas Tree has always been a winter solstice shrine (an idol). Not only is Chaldea the place where the Land of Merchants status originated, but it is also where sorcery and sun god worship originated too… in a word… it’s Christmas.
